Ayra Starr’s mother has sparked a conversation on TikTok after encouraging older women to join the platform, highlighting its positive impact on mental health and creativity.

In her video, she thanked her followers, saying, “I’m so grateful to be on TikTok and so privileged to have you all in my life.”

She went on to explain how TikTok has been an eye-opener for her: “My thinking now is different from before. I’m always thinking of creativity. I want to create new things.”

The mother of the famous Nigerian singer urged others, especially women aged 40 to 60, to join the platform. She believes it helps with mental well-being, adding, “It helps them mentally.”

She also shared how it has inspired her to experiment with new looks: “I want to dress up. I want to look so you guys can see the way I’m looking.” With enthusiasm, she encouraged older women to share their own experiences on TikTok, even if they don’t plan on dancing. “You don’t have to dance like me. I will dance,” she added with a laugh.

However, not everyone agreed with her suggestion. The video quickly sparked mixed reactions across social media. Some were supportive, like one commenter who said, “Just because our parents are older doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have fun.” Others, however, were less impressed, with one person asking, “What will my mom be doing on TikTok?” and another saying, “Wetin 60 years old woman won dey do for TikTok? 😂.”

Some pointed out the influence of Ayra Starr, suggesting that her mother’s experience may not reflect the reality for everyone. Dr. Farouk remarked, “It’s because you have an audience, ma. Mothers who don’t have an audience will get tired of it.”

Despite the pushback, Ayra Starr’s mother remains positive, encouraging older women to embrace creativity and fun on TikTok. She ended her video with a warm thank you to her fans, appreciating the love and support she’s received.
