Kidnappers NYSC DG Ransom

Kidnappers of the former Director-General, DG of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, have demanded ₦250 million as ransom for his release.

A family source, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that the kidnappers contacted them with their demand.

Tsiga was abducted alongside nine other residents during a well-coordinated attack around midnight on Wednesday in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. The attackers also killed one person while looting homes and stealing valuables.

Eyewitnesses reported that over 100 armed men invaded the area, surrounding Tsiga’s house before forcibly taking him away.

Speaking on the attack, Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, the lawmaker representing Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency, stated that the gunmen moved from house to house before encountering Tsiga.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has launched a search-and-rescue mission to find Tsiga. Soldiers have been deployed to track down the kidnappers of the former NYSC DG with the aim of rescuing him and other victims.

Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola, Commander of the 17 Brigade, is leading the search operation deep into the forests of Katsina State. A senior military official confirmed, “Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General Babatunde Omopariola, has been in the bush since the night of the incident.”
