Delta North Leaders Say Oborevwori Is Doing Well
By Benjamin Abioye

Elected and appointed political leaders from Delta North Senatorial District gathered on Thursday at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, where they passed a vote of confidence in the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The meeting, presided over by the state’s Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, expressed the people’s satisfaction with the governor’s efforts in distributing projects fairly across the state.

The motion was moved by the member for Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who highlighted several of Governor Oborevwori’s achievements. These included 500 ongoing road projects, regular inspections to ensure value for public funds, and the prompt payment of salaries.
These efforts led to him receiving the 2024 Governor of the Year Award by ThisDay/Arise TV. The motion was seconded by Hon. Emeka Nwobi, Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, and adopted following a voice vote.

In his speech, Deputy Governor Onyeme emphasized that all elected and appointed officials should act as ambassadors for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), promoting the policies and programs of Governor Oborevwori’s administration. He urged leaders to stay connected with the grassroots and ensure Delta North remains a stronghold for the PDP, resisting opposition misinformation.
Onyeme also called on local government chairmen to align their projects with the governor’s “More Agenda” to further improve the lives of the people. He encouraged party leaders to participate in empowerment programs and attend meetings regularly. Additionally, he advised elected officials to spend more time in their wards and council areas instead of remaining in Asaba.

Several key figures, including Elder Moses Iduh, PDP’s Deputy State Chairman; Chief Dan Ossai, PDP’s Delta North Senatorial Chairman; and Hon. Victor Nwokolo, Ika Federal Constituency representative, also spoke. They reiterated that Delta North would remain a PDP stronghold and resolved to take legal action to reclaim the senatorial mandate from Prince Ned Nwoko, who had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Over 500 people attended the meeting, which underscored the commitment of Delta North’s political leadership to strengthening the PDP in the region.
