Shocking: Student Confesses To Killing Colleague With Axe, Knife

The police in Nasarawa State have arrested a student, John Gambo, from the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, for allegedly killing his colleague.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrest followed a report from a woman, Madam Mercy-Bassey, who complained about a fight between her two tenants. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time ND2 Computer Science student, lying in a pool of blood.

The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Nasarawa town, but unfortunately, he died shortly after reaching the hospital.

John Gambo, who is a student of Banking and Finance, was arrested immediately. He reportedly confessed to attacking the victim with both an axe and a knife.

The Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation and legal action.

In another sad incident, a police officer, ASP Shafi’u Usman Bawa, has reportedly taken his own life in Kontagora town, Niger State.

Reports say the tragic event happened on Saturday, February 8, 2025. A police message confirming the incident stated that ASP Bawa was found hanging from the ceiling.

His father, Usman Bawa, who lives in the Rigasa area of Kontagora, informed the police about his son’s death. The officer’s body was taken to the General Hospital in Kontagora, where a doctor confirmed his passing.

Following Islamic customs, the remains were handed over to the family for burial. The police have started an investigation and promised to provide further updates as more details emerge.
