Covenant of Exemption

What would you say about the Israelites in Egypt? When God was raining down those plagues on Pharaoh and his people to force them to let Israel go, the Land of Goshen where the Israelites lived was miraculously, mysteriously completely exempted from those plagues. None of the punishment affected the Israelites. My God! Look at it here:

  “So Moses announced to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the LORD says: About midnight I will pass through Egypt. All the firstborn sons will die in every family in Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the oldest son of lowliest slave. Even the firstborn of the animals will die. Then a loud wail will be heard throughout the land of Egypt; there has never been such wailing before, and there will never be again. But among the Israelites it will be so peaceful that not even a dog will bark. Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites.

Exodus 11:4-7

 Yes, not even a dog barked in Goshen that night! There was indeed absolute tranquillity. When there were weeping, funerals and mourning throughout Egypt, there was peace, tranquillity, hope and anticipation of imminent deliverance in the camp of Israel. God makes a difference between those that serve him and the unrighteous. He does not destroy or punish both together.

I am not saying that the righteous does not suffer, but look closely you will see the difference between the punishment that the unrighteous goes through and the trial of a believer. This is a strong divine promise in the scriptures. He said that the world will always see the difference between those that serve him and those that ignore or resist his words. I will not suffer or die like an unbeliever! In fact, he even said that the diseases and the curses he will bring upon the Egyptians (unbelievers) will not come upon us. God refused to destroy Noah with his unrepentant generation. Him and his family and those animals in the ship were exempted from the deluge. He also refused to destroy Lot with his generation because of this divine principle. You will not die like or with the unbelievers in Jesus’ name! God will exempt you and yours! From today I connect you to that divine covenant that will permanently exclude you from destruction!

  Moses

 Even when God had enough of the stubbornness and disobedience of the Israelites, he wanted to totally perish all of them in the wilderness. But he was quick to tell Moses that he would exempt, preserve him and make him a great nation. But like the great intercessor and leader, the godly Moses rejected the offer instantly and instead interceded for the belligerent and idolatrous Israel. Imagine that! Today many of us will jump at that offer and even boost of how good and favoured we are. Do you understand this? God planned to exterminate the Israelites but his friend must be exempted. Look at it in your bible, “Then the LORD said, “I have seen how stubborn and rebellious these people are. Now leave me alone so my fierce anger can blaze against them, and I will destroy them. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation.”  Exodus 32:9-10. Your depth of relationship will exempt you from evil and destruction! 

I am the only one left

  I also found something like this in the book of Job. Why was it that during the four stages of destruction that came upon Job’s children and possessions, one of the people present must always escape from the disasters? Why? Did you notice that? One of the servants must escape the destruction to come and report the news. I am not hearing you well please, but if anybody must escape that disaster I must be the one. If anybody must live to tell the story, to report the incident that person must be Gabriel. Nothing is permitted to remove you until you have successfully fulfilled God’s program for your life.    “One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting at the oldest brother’s house a messenger arrived at Job’s home with this news: ‘Your oxen were plowing, with the donkeys feeding beside them, when the Sabeans raided us. They stole all the animals and killed all the farmhands. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.’  While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: ‘The fire of God has fallen from heaven and burned up your sheep and all the shepherds. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.’

   While he was still speaking, a third messenger arrived with this news: ‘Three bands of Chaldean raiders have stolen your camels and killed your servants. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.’  While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: ‘Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home. Suddenly, a powerful wind swept in from the wilderness and hit the house on all sides. The house collapsed, and all your children are dead. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.” Job 1:13 -19 

  My God! Did you notice the pattern here? “I am the only one who escaped to tell you!” We shall escape to tell the story in the name of Jesus!  Like these servants of Lot we will survive it. You will overcome this problem. We are escaping in the mighty name of Jesus! The word of God said that we will escape like a bird set free from the snare of a fowler! Yes, the trap is broken and we are set free! Whether it is fire of trial, temptation, satanic attack, evil plans and persecution or accident, storms of life or raiding of our joy, position and possession, we will survive and escape them all. No satanic raider or enemy shall have power over us. We shall not be destroyed. No way! Again, the Psalmist said that the trap is broken and we have escaped! Praise God! You will escape it. Jesus was also miraculously and mysteriously exempted Herod’s targeted massacre through the ministry of the angels and dreams when the king wickedly liquidated thousands of Jewish male babies in and around Bethlehem to get at the divine child.
