Lagos To Temporarily Shut Ikorodu Road, Third Mainland, Others (See Alternatives Routes)
By Gideon Ayeni

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of several major roads for eight hours on Saturday, February 15, 2025, to facilitate the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the marathon will begin at 5:00 a.m. and conclude at 1:00 p.m., starting from the National Stadium in Surulere and following a designated route through key areas, including Ikorodu Road, the Third Mainland Bridge, Dolphin Road, Alfred Rewane Road, and Admiralty Way, before ending at Eko Atlantic.
To ensure a secure race path, concrete barriers will be placed at junctions and intersections, while officers from LASTMA, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Lagos State Neighborhood Corps (LSNC), and LAWMA will be deployed to manage traffic and maintain order.
The government has also provided alternative routes for motorists traveling from Ikeja, Badagry, Surulere, Sango-Otta, and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Notably, the Third Mainland Bridge will remain open for vehicles heading to the Mainland but will be closed for traffic moving toward Lagos Island.
Osiyemi urged residents to plan their journeys accordingly and make use of alternative routes to minimize disruptions. He assured that traffic officers would be on the ground to assist road users throughout the event.
