Afrobeats star Asake has officially confirmed his exit from Olamide’s YBNL label by replacing the YBNL logo with his own in the music video for his new song “Whine.”

Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has officially confirmed his departure from his former record label, YBNL, which is owned by rapper Olamide.

This announcement comes with the release of his new song “Whine,” featuring Brazilian singer Ludmilla, where Asake made a bold move by replacing the YBNL logo with his own personal logo in the music video.

The singer’s exit was hinted at back in December 2024 when it was reported that Asake had removed YBNL from his Instagram bio, signaling that something had changed. He also unfollowed Olamide and all other accounts on his official Instagram page, further confirming the rift. Asake’s absence from Olamide’s star-studded concert in December 2024 also fueled speculation that the two were parting ways.

Sources indicate that Olamide, despite the split, was understanding and amicable, allowing Asake to peacefully end their partnership. Their two-year collaboration was highly successful, with Asake releasing three hit albums, selling out the 20k-capacity O2 Arena twice, accumulating billions of streams, and even earning a Grammy nomination.

In his new music video, Asake decisively replaced the YBNL logo with his own, putting all doubts to rest and signaling the end of his time with the label.
