Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has warned his 27 Commissioner and Special Adviser nominees not to celebrate in Uyo, directing them to celebrate in their local government areas instead.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has issued a strict warning to his 27 nominees for Commissioner and Special Adviser positions.

He instructed them not to hold any celebrations in Uyo, the state capital, following their appointments.

To enforce this directive, he ordered security agencies to prevent any gatherings in the capital. He also made it clear that any nominee who disobeys the order will have their name removed within 24 hours. Instead, he urged them to return to their local government areas to celebrate with their communities.

During the inauguration of the Bureau of Statistics Board, Labour, and Industrial Committee at the Government House in Uyo, the governor emphasized the importance of staying connected to the grassroots. He stated, “Any nominee, except those from Uyo, who disregards this directive and celebrates in the capital will be sacked within 24 hours.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has denied allegations that he is working against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Ekpo dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated. He clarified that he remains focused on his duties and does not interfere with party activities.

“The Minister would have ignored this article, but the malicious claims that Governor Eno has recruited some of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s officials, including Ekperikpe Ekpo, into a plot to sabotage Mr. President’s second term aspiration warrant a response.”

“Governor Eno is leading a peaceful administration in Akwa Ibom State and has no interference with activities that go on in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We categorically deny the allegation that Minister Ekpo is involved in any plot to sabotage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election efforts.”

The statement further emphasized that the accusations were not only false but also absurd, highlighting Ekpo’s unwavering loyalty to the party. It pointed to his role in founding the Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF), which played a crucial role in the party’s success in the 2023 elections..
