Idiots! Patrick Doyle Slams Public Marriage Proposals
By Benjamin Abioye

Veteran actor Patrick Doyle has criticized Nigerians who engage in public marriage proposals.
He expressed his disapproval in a Facebook post on Thursday, calling it “imbecilic” to have a public proposal with a crowd of people and live video streaming.
Doyle pointed out that proposing marriage should be a deeply personal and intimate moment between two persons.
He wrote, “Asking a woman to marry you is perhaps the most intimate experience any 2 persons can be engaged in outside of actual copulation.”
He further criticized the growing trend, referring to it as “imbecilic,” and linked it to an epidemic of narcissism and a need for approval. He questioned whether some individuals had any proper upbringing, adding, “The epidemic of narcissism and approval addiction consuming many makes me wonder if some people ever had any home training at all.”
In a separate post, Doyle also praised Afrobeats artist Davido (David Adeleke) for his calm demeanor in the face of criticism. He commended the artiste for being humble and not arrogant, even though he is a successful figure in the music industry.
Doyle compared Davido’s approach to life with the philosophy of the late Nigerian leader Obafemi Awolowo, who faced criticism throughout his life but remained composed and focused.
