However, in a statement released on Saturday, NNPC’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, condemned the video, describing it as an unverified and amateur attempt to discredit the company. He reassured Nigerians that NNPC’s fuel is produced with high-quality formulations designed for efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability.
Soneye further emphasized that a significant portion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos—where the video allegedly originated—comes from the Dangote Refinery. He noted that the refinery adheres to strict industry standards, ensuring top-quality petroleum products for consumers.
Labeling the video as a deliberate attempt by “economic saboteurs” to mislead the public and tarnish NNPC’s reputation, the company warned that it would take legal action against individuals or groups spreading falsehoods about its brand and operations.
“Henceforth, NNPC Ltd will not tolerate deliberate misinformation. Those responsible for such malicious activities will be held fully accountable under the law,” the statement read.
The company urged Nigerians to ignore the misleading video and rely on verified sources for accurate information. NNPC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the availability, affordability, and quality of fuel while maintaining global industry standards.
