The Emir of Ilorin Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has expressed deep sorrow over the gruesome killing of Hafsoh Lawal, describing it as an unfortunate and alien act of wickedness.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Lawal, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance among parents, guardians, and community members. He urged families to ensure that their children and wards associate only with individuals of tested and trusted character from well-researched family backgrounds.

“It is only hard work that pays. A total war should be declared against idleness, laziness, and the unwarranted loitering of youths under the guise of finding means of survival,” the Emir stated of the killing of Miss Lawal by an Islamic cleric.

He further called on religious leaders, particularly clerics in the Ilorin Emirate, to take an active role in sanitizing society by exposing criminal elements like Abdulrahman Bello before they cause further havoc.

While commiserating with the family of the late Hafsoh Lawal, Emir Sulu-Gambari urged the Nigeria Police and the Judiciary to ensure that total justice is served in the case.

The Emir also directed Imams across the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State to focus their Friday sermons on morality, dignity in labour, and respect for human life, irrespective of tribe, religion, or social status.
