Tragedy struck the Nigerian Police at the weekend as the lifeless body of a police inspector, Haruna Mohammed, was discovered in a hotel room at Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi, Akute, Ogun State

Inspector Mohammed, who was attached to the Ishashi Police Division in Lagos State, reportedly checked into Super G Royal Hotel around 1 a.m. on Saturday with an unidentified woman. However, by morning, he was found dead, while the woman was nowhere to be seen.

According to reports, the hotel manager, Deborah Adejobi, noticed that the Police officer’s room door was unlocked around 8:52 a.m. Upon entry, she found his motionless body, prompting an immediate alert to the hotel owner, Abiodun Olagunju, who then reported the incident to the police.

Further investigation revealed that the unidentified woman had visited the hotel reception around 6 a.m. to request table water before disappearing.

The officer’s body has since been moved to Life Channel Mortuary in Olambe.

Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that initial identification was challenging, as the deceased had no ID card on him. However, suspicions were raised after police uniforms were found in his bag.

“The DPO of Ishashi Division has been contacted, and the body has been positively identified,” Odutola stated.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched a manhunt for the missing woman as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the officer’s mysterious death.
