Atiku Hails Osun People For Resisting Tinubu, APC
By Benjamin Abioye

Atiku Abubakar has condemned the violent political clashes in Osun State, accusing President Bola Tinubu and the APC of using force to undermine democracy.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu over the recent political crisis in Osun State.
Violence broke out on Monday as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed over control of local government secretariats.
Atiku, who ran as the PDP candidate in the 2023 presidential election, blamed the ruling party for the unrest.
In a statement posted on his 𝕏 handle on Tuesday, he accused the APC of being desperate to hold onto power at all costs. He expressed disappointment that neither the presidency nor the APC leadership condemned the violent events.
“Nigerians bore witness to a chilling display of lawlessness yesterday, as the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) exposed the depths of its desperation to retain power at all costs — through sheer political brigandage and the subversion of democracy,” Atiku said.
He claimed that APC members, supported by armed thugs, tried to take control of all 30 local government council secretariats in Osun by force. According to him, the national leadership of the APC and the presidency remained silent, failing to act against this attack on democracy.
Atiku praised the people of Osun for standing their ground and resisting what he called an attempt to steal their electoral rights. “Had it not been for the fearless resistance of Osun people — who stood their ground against the APC’s rampaging foot soldiers — democracy in the state would have been trampled under the boots of political marauders acting at the behest of their party’s overlords,” he stated.
He warned that Osun would not surrender to anti-democratic forces and urged security agencies to remain neutral during the upcoming elections. “We demand that security agencies deployed for Saturday’s elections uphold their constitutional duty with professionalism, refusing to be used as enforcers of APC’s criminal agenda. The world is watching. These are dangerous times,” he added.
Atiku accused the APC of using force instead of democratic means to stay in power, despite being rejected by the people. He commended Osun residents for their courage, saying, “We commend the brave citizens of Osun for standing up to the tyranny that sought to break them. Their resilience is a beacon of hope in the face of unrelenting oppression.”
He then called on President Tinubu and his supporters to stop what he described as political sabotage. “President Bola A. Tinubu, @officialABAT, and his dwindling band of enablers must cease their reckless acts of political sabotage — not just in Osun or Lagos, but across Nigeria. The people demand governance, not chaos,” he declared.
Atiku concluded by warning that Nigerians would not allow their democracy to be destroyed by those seeking to create disorder. “Nigerians will not sit idly while their democracy is hijacked by a power-drunk regime intent on setting the country on fire. Enough is enough,” he said.
