In an effort to secure a decisive victory for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the upcoming 2027 elections, the Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Udu Federal Constituency Forum has established various committees to disable the All Progressives Congress, APC forces in the area.

GWG.ng reports that the federal constituency which boosts of some of the leading APC personalities in the state has been the foothold of the opposition party in the state. It is a situation that the PDP leaders from Ughelli and Udu who also include the governor’s spokesman, Sir Festus Ahon want to change.

Itis the base of the immediate past deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who is the putative leader of the party in the state. The former leader of the party in the state, Olorogun Otega Emerhor  is also from the constituency and so is the former ministerial nominee and former national woman leader of the party, Stella Okotete.

GWG.ng further reports that the APC presently occupies three of the four state constituencies in the federal constituency with the PDP only having its foothold in Ughelli South, ironically the base of Omo-Agege.

However, leading lights of the PDP and political actors aligned to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have signalled their intention to wrest the federal constituency from the APC.

Speaking during a meeting held in Asaba, Chairman of the forum, Olorogun John Oguma emphasized that the meeting was convened to properly position the PDP in the area.

He highlighted that the Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency is the largest in Delta Central senatorial district and have the highest number of kingdoms in Urhobo land.

Despite the substantial voter base, Oguma acknowledged that the party did not performed well in the 2023 elections. He, however, expressed optimism that the outcome would be different in 2027, adding that the stakeholders are more united now than before.

He urged the people to remain united, stressing that the forum is meant for all party members within the federal constituency.

Oguma reassured the three Local Government Area PDP Chairmen present, that the forum is to assist in strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Olorogun Eddie Ono-Sorhue, Deputy Chairman of the Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency Forum; Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Senior Political Adviser to the Governor; Chief Terry Noah, former Commissioner for Lands and Survey; and Chief Fred Majemite, also a former Commissioner for Lands and Survey, collectively affirmed that the group was formed to bolster the party’s ambitions in 2027.

“With the backing of the PDP Chairmen in the federal constituency and regular meetings of the forum, we are confident that we will achieve remarkable success,” the Ugelli and Udu leaders stated.

The inauguration organizing committee is headed by the three Local Government Area Chairmen: Hon. Jaro Egbo (Ughelli North), Hon. Lucky Avweromre (Ughelli South), and Hon. Vincent Oyibode (Udu).

Various sub-committees were also set up for effective planning and execution of the plan to get Ughelli and Udu into the full embrace of the PDP.
