Bad Rubbish! Oba Of Benin Lambasts Wicked Obaseki

The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has strongly criticized the former administration led by Godwin Obaseki. He accused the past government of causing emotional distress to the people of Edo State and disrespecting the traditional institution.
In a congratulatory message delivered by the Esere of Benin Kingdom, Chief Stanley Osamwonyi, the Oba expressed his displeasure. He stated that the former government ignored and undermined the role of traditional rulers, treating the people unfairly.
The monarch praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for taking corrective measures to address the harm done by the previous administration. He commended the governor for restoring respect to Edo’s traditional institutions.
Recalling the past administration’s actions, the Oba said it created tension between the government and traditional leaders. He claimed that the government deliberately tried to weaken the Benin Traditional Council by taking away its rights and benefits.
“The psyche of the people of Edo State was severely brutalized and traditional institutions in the state were also undermined, insulted, and almost destroyed,” the Oba stated.
He also pointed out that the past government revoked the concession of the Oba Akenzua II Cultural Centre, which had been granted to him. According to him, these actions were aimed at diminishing the influence of the Benin Kingdom.
The monarch expressed his appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for reversing some of these decisions. He described the governor’s leadership as a relief for the people of Edo and a return to a relationship built on mutual respect between the government and the traditional rulers.
