A media aide to the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the treatment of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

GWG.ng reports that during a plenary session presided over by Akpabio, Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno, the Chief Whip, raised a point of order concerning what he called the “improper seating position” of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. The situation escalated when Natasha protested against an unauthorized change to her seat arrangement.

Before Monguno could complete his statement, Akpoti-Uduaghan reacted angrily, leading to a loud confrontation. The Sergeant-at-Arms stepped in, attempting to escort her out of the chamber. Despite Akpabio’s efforts to calm the situation, the female senator stood her ground, demanding an explanation for the sudden change to her seat without her consent.

Reacting to the incident, Paul Ibe took to his 𝕏 handle on Thursday to express his displeasure, labeling Akpabio as a “misogynist” and accusing him of being intolerant toward opposition lawmakers.

He wrote:
“It has become obvious to the blind and deaf that Senate President Godswill Akpabio is:

1. A misogynist

2. Intolerant of opposition

3. A comedian and not a leader of the Upper Chamber”

Ibe also mentioned Senator Ireti Kingibe in his post, seemingly referencing a pattern of unfair treatment toward female senators.
