Gumsu Abacha’s cryptic “Weakling” comment has sparked intense debates, with supporters defending her father’s legacy while critics accuse her of rewriting history.

The cryptic remark made by Gumsu Abacha, daughter of the late military head of state Sani Abacha, has sparked intense reactions across social media. Her one-word post, “Weakling,” widely interpreted as a response to former military president Ibrahim Babangida’s claims on the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election, has drawn both support and criticism.

Some users stood firmly by Gumsu, believing that history has been distorted to shift blame onto her father. @nut_joshua simply wrote, “Abacha Above All,” while @Imuentiyan01 voiced trust in her, stating, “I believe you, beautiful woman.” Others, like @Petersonpeter4 and @sanuog1, offered words of encouragement, urging her to “stay strong.”

However, not everyone was sympathetic. Critics of the late Abacha were quick to express their disapproval, with @last_born88 labeling him “an oppressor” and @Ibtexjewel remarking, “Daughter of an oppressor dey call person weakling.” Some felt her post was unfair, as the deceased cannot defend themselves. @abubakarbakoo commented, “The dead can’t defend themselves. RIP general.”

The debate also took a religious turn, with @tundeshola9 cautioning against speaking ill of the dead, stating, “Speaking ill of the dead is haram in Islam. He should know better. He’s truly a weakling.” Meanwhile, @Geo9ija took a more balanced stance, urging historical corrections while praying for both the deceased and the living.

Calls for more transparency also emerged, as @Adekunle9028151 encouraged Gumsu to go beyond insinuations, saying, “Mention names madam… you got our full support.” Some questioned the overall historical narrative, with @fabiasoft insisting, “Dead man tells no tales! But time again hasn’t wheeled completely, truth shall always outlive men!”

As debates continue, it remains evident that the history of the June 12 annulment remains a deeply divisive subject, with strong emotions on all sides. Whether Gumsu Abacha will elaborate on her statement or let the cryptic message stand remains to be seen.
