Popular Nollywood Star Suffers Stroke, Hospitalized

Nollywood actor John Amaefule has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke, sparking concern among fans and colleagues in the film industry.
The news was shared by renowned Nollywood producer Stanley Okereke, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, who took to Instagram to reveal the actor’s critical condition. According to him, Amaefule suffered a stroke affecting the left side of his brain and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owerri.
In an emotional appeal, Okereke called on well-meaning Nigerians to support Amaefule medical treatment, emphasizing the urgent need for funds to conduct essential tests and secure medications.
“Nollywood veteran actor John Amaefule was rushed to the hospital this morning in Owerri after suffering a stroke. He is currently at FMC Owerri, and his family is pleading with Nigerians for financial assistance to help save his life,” Okereke wrote.
Providing further details, he shared a message from the medical team attending to Amaefule, stating that the actor requires several tests, including a Lipid Panel Test, Hemoglobin A1C Test, and Electrolyte Urea and Creatinine Test.
Additionally, he disclosed that Amaefule needs immediate treatment, including medications for cholesterol management (atorvastatin), blood pressure control (losartan or hydrochlorothiazide), and blood-thinning drugs (aspirin and clopidogrel) to prevent further complications.
Okereke urged Nollywood colleagues and fans to spread the word and contribute towards Amaefule’s treatment.
The news of Amaefule’s condition has since drawn reactions from fans and industry stakeholders, with many expressing their prayers and support for his recovery.
