NABTEB Releases 2024 Results

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has officially announced the results for the November/December 2024 examinations. These include the National Business Certificate (NBC), National Technical Certificate (NTC), Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC), and Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC).

NABTEB’s Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, shared the details of the results at a press briefing in Benin on Monday.

A total of 44,226 candidates sat for the exams in 1,825 centres across the country, representing 98.87% of those who registered. Out of this number, 67.56% (29,880 students) obtained five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.

Additionally, 95.94% of candidates (42,431 students) achieved five credits or more, regardless of whether they included English and Mathematics.

While overall performance remained strong, there was a slight decline in English and Mathematics scores compared to 2023. Last year, 71.27% of candidates passed with five credits, including these key subjects. However, there was a minor improvement in the number of students who passed five subjects without English and Mathematics, rising from 94.82% in 2023 to 94.93% in 2024.

Breakdown of Enrollment
For the 2024 exams:

– O’Level Candidates: 44,730 students (25,542 males, 19,188 females)

– A’Level Candidates: 4,095 students (2,725 males, 1,370 females)

The exams were conducted between November 7 and December 7, 2024, covering various trade and technical fields.

Craftsmen and Master Craftsmen Certification
At the craft level, 40,978 candidates participated in the exams, with 33,295 (81.25%) successfully certified as craftsmen. This marks a significant improvement from the previous year’s 41.16% success rate.

For the master craftsmen level, 3,892 candidates sat for the exams, and 2,404 (61.77%) earned their certification. This was also an improvement from the 54.82% pass rate recorded in 2023.

Examination Malpractice and New Digital Certificates
Despite the general improvement in results, some cases of examination malpractice were recorded. A total of 256 candidates (0.53%) were caught engaging in malpractice.

Dr. Asanga also introduced a new electronic certification system, allowing candidates from May/June 2017 to November/December 2022 to access their certificates online.

“This initiative ensures faster and easier access to examination certificates, eliminating delays faced by candidates in the past,” he stated.

NABTEB remains dedicated to improving technical and vocational education in Nigeria, ensuring more skilled professionals are certified across different trades.
