A Nigerian employer, Ojiako Kenechukwu, has sparked controversy on social media after boasting about firing a newly employed staff member within 24 hours of hiring him.

Taking to his Twitter page, Kenechukwu shared that the new employee had approached him with an unexpected request, asking if he had an old iPhone he no longer used and could give to him.

The employer, seemingly displeased by the request, immediately terminated the staff member’s employment.

“Employed a staff yesterday… E never reach 24 hours… Next thing is ‘Sir, is there any iPhone you don’t use that you can give to me.’ Well, just like that, work has been terminated,” he tweeted.

However, his post did not sit well with many social media users, who criticized him for what they perceived as an unnecessary show of power and lack of empathy. While some defended his decision, others argued that the request could have been a mere inquiry rather than a reason to fire someone.
