Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been handed a two-game touchline ban after being sent off during the recent match against Everton.

Slot received a red card for confronting referee Michael Oliver after the Premier League game ended in a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park on February 12.

As a result, he will miss Liverpool’s home league match against Newcastle on Wednesday and their game against Southampton on March 8. However, he will be allowed on the touchline for the Champions League last-16 first-leg match against Paris Saint-Germain on March 5.

Along with the suspension, Slot has been fined £70,000 by an independent Football Association commission after accepting the charge.

Assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff has also been given a two-game ban and fined £7,000. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Everton have been fined £65,000 and £50,000, respectively, for failing to control their players during the heated conclusion of the match.

The chaos followed a late equaliser by James Tarkowski in the 98th minute, which led to Everton fans storming the pitch in celebration.

Liverpool questioned the legitimacy of Tarkowski’s goal, which was reviewed by VAR, believing that Ibrahima Konaté was pushed in the build-up.

Slot will return to the sidelines after the international break when Liverpool face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on March 16.

Currently, Liverpool sit 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League and are set to host Everton at Anfield on April 2.

Slot had previously served a touchline ban during the EFL Cup quarter-final against Southampton in December after he was susp for accumulating three yellow cards.
