Folorunsho Alakija Blind

Nigerian billionaire Folorunsho Alakija has reportedly gone blind following a health crisis caused by a terrifying near-air accident that led to a sharp rise in her blood pressure.

Folorunsho Alakija, the founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil, has reportedly lost her sight.

Medical professionals caring for the Nigerian billionaire revealed this unfortunate news.

The 73-year-old’s health problems are believed to have started after a terrifying near-air accident.

According to Nigerian news reports, Alakija was traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, the Chairman of Famfa Oil, when the incident occurred. The frightening experience caused her blood pressure to rise sharply.

As a result, her eyesight was affected. To prevent a similar situation, she reportedly purchased a new private jet to avoid flying with her husband. She also started a church for spiritual support.

Despite these efforts, her vision continued to decline until she became completely blind.

A source revealed, “She had a near air mishap with her husband on board and her blood pressure reportedly shot up affecting her eyes.

“She has been having eyesight issues but instead of treating the illness, she chose to start a church to help her. Now she can’t see.”

Alakija first started a small religious gathering at her home around 2004, which later grew into the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.

On her 69th birthday, she was ordained as an Apostle, marking an important moment in her spiritual journey.

In 2020, Forbes estimated her net worth at $1 billion. Back in 2015, she was named the 87th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes. She was also one of only two African women on the list of Africa’s richest people.

Alakija is connected to a Bombardier Global Express XRS (model BD-700-1A10) with serial number 9416.

This aircraft has been registered under Wings of Grace Limited since November 25, 2011, with the tail number VP-CEO.

She also owns a Bombardier Global Express 6000, a luxury private jet known for its long-distance travel capacity. It can cover up to 6,000 nautical miles and has a cruising speed of Mach 0.89.

The news that the Nigerian fashionista and billionaire, Folurunsho Alakija has gone blind is one that is bound to raise concern among friends and foes.
