Ramadan: Sultan Of Sokoto Makes New Announcement

The Sultanate Council in Sokoto has declared that the search for the new moon of Ramadan 1446AH will commence on Friday, February 28, 2025.

In an official announcement, the council urged Muslims across Nigeria to be vigilant and watch for the crescent moon on that day. Individuals who sight the moon are expected to report their observations to the nearest District or Village Head, who will then relay the information to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also expected to the commencement of Ramadan fasting.

As the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the Sultan will verify and officially announce the sighting if confirmed.
