Natasha Puts Akpabio On The Spot Ahead Of Probe
By Gideon Ayeni
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has insisted that her probe proceedings at the Senate be broadcast live, emphasizing that Nigerians have a right to witness the process.
Besides putting forth the live broadcast demand, Natasha is set to spill the beans and shake the Nigerian political landscape on a scheduled interview on Arise News on Friday morning.
The Kogi Central lawmaker made this call in a post across her social media platforms on Thursday, following her referral to the Senate’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.
The probe stems from her ongoing face-off with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which began with a controversy over her seating arrangement in the chamber.
The dispute initially erupted when Akpoti-Uduaghan was reportedly reassigned to a different seat in the Senate, a move she resisted, claiming she was being sidelined. The situation escalated as she openly challenged Akpabio’s decision, leading to heated exchanges. The tension between them further deepened when she took legal action against Akpabio, alleging bias and unfair treatment in the Senate leadership.
She also accused Alpabio of fanning nude dressing claims against her.
In a dramatic turn, Akpoti-Uduaghan later made an emotional call to Brekete Family Radio, where she accused Akpabio of targeting her and stifling her legislative rights. The development sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the power dynamics in the Senate under Akpabio’s leadership.
Now, with the Senate Ethics and Disciplinary Committee set to probe her, Akpoti-Uduaghan has vowed to ensure full transparency. Declaring that she was ready to face the panel, she stated that she would not allow the proceedings to be conducted behind closed doors.
Sharing her stance on social media, she wrote:
“Good morning courageous people of Kogi Central, Kogi State, and Nigeria. This petition came to my notice a few hours ago.
In as much as I have refrained from publicly speaking on the matter and a lot of occurrences at the Senate under Senate President Akpabio, it’s about time I break my silence.
Arise News, set a date, and I shall be in your studio in person. Spare no questions.
And to Nigerians, please be sure to join the probe, which I shall insist would be covered live.
The next few days and weeks shall be interesting but will shape the standard and quality of Nigeria’s leadership.”
With tensions still high, all eyes are now on the Senate to see whether Akpoti-Uduaghan’s demand for a live broadcast will be granted or if the probe will remain behind closed doors.
