Wike Breaks Silence On Supreme Court’s Verdict In Rivers
By Gideon Ayeni

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised the Supreme Court’s ruling that nullified the recent local government elections in Rivers State and reaffirmed the legitimacy of the 27-member Martin Amaewhule-led State Assembly.
Speaking in Abuja on Friday after the verdict, Wike declared that the ruling had effectively put an end to the political crisis in Rivers State. He also took aim at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, accusing them of endorsing lawlessness in the state.
Wike emphasized that Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no option but to fully comply with the Supreme Court’s judgment, stressing that it represents the final legal authority on the matter.
The ruling marks a significant turning point in the ongoing power struggle in Rivers, reinforcing the authority of the Amaewhule-led Assembly while invalidating the contentious local government elections conducted under Fubara’s administration
