Ex-NYSC DG Tsiga Freed

Former NYSC DG Maharazu Tsiga has been freed by his abductors after spending 22 days in captivity. According to news sources the former Nigerian general is now receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital.

A former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, has been freed by his abductors after spending 22 days in captivity.

Tsiga was freed on Friday, though the circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear.

According to a reliable source, Tsiga is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital for security reasons.

The kidnappers, led by a notorious bandit leader, had demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release. However, it has not been confirmed whether any payment was made.

So far, government officials and security agencies, including the state police command, have not made any official statements regarding his release.

Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, when gunmen stormed his residence in Tsiga village, located in Bakori Local Government Area. During the attack, two people sustained injuries, and in a twist of events, one of the gunmen was mistakenly shot dead by a fellow gang member.

GWG.ng reports that the news that Tsiga has been freed is bound to be welcomed by his friends and associates who had been in suspense over the fate of the former Nigerian general.
