High Chief Emmanuel O. Uduaghan, husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has spoken out for the first time regarding the ongoing dispute between his wife and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a press statement dated March 1, 2025, the Alema of Warri Kingdom expressed concern over the escalating controversy and urged the Senate to treat his wife with the respect and dignity she deserves.

Uduaghan, who had initially chosen to stay out of the matter, said he was compelled to speak due to the “unnecessary sentiments” being stirred, which he believes are distracting from the serious issues at hand. He reaffirmed his wife’s dedication to serving her constituency, describing her as a truthful and unwavering leader despite adversity.

The traditional leader disclosed that his wife had confided in him about her troubling experiences with Akpabio, whom he once considered a family friend. In response, Uduaghan said he personally approached the Senate President, urging him to extend due courtesy and respect to Natasha while maintaining their friendship. He claimed they reached an understanding and agreed to resolve the issue amicably.

However, despite this agreement, Uduaghan noted that his wife continued to express concerns over alleged harassment from Akpabio. Reaffirming his unwavering support for Natasha, he described their marriage as built on love, compassion, and mutual respect, stating that he “would never trade her for anything.”

He concluded by calling on the Senate and its leadership to uphold core values and allow the relevant authorities to address the allegations against Akpabio transparently.

The dispute between Natasha and Akpabio has dominated public discourse, with the Kogi Central senator accusing the Senate President of intimidation and blocking her motions. The controversy took another turn when Akpabio’s wife, Unoma, publicly defended her husband, prompting Natasha to send a legal warning, advising her to stay out of the matter.

Now, with Natasha’s husband stepping in, the saga continues to unfold.
