Grammy-Nominated R&B Star Dies In Car Crash

Renowned R&B singer and songwriter Angie Stone has tragically passed away at the age of 63 following a car accident in Alabama. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her daughter, Diamond Stone, in an emotional Facebook post.

“My mommy is gone,” Diamond wrote, expressing her grief just hours after asking for prayers for her family.

According to reports, the Grammy-nominated artiste was fatally injured when a van she was traveling in overturned early Saturday morning after a performance. Guy Todd Williams, also known as Rahiem from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, revealed that about nine other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but Stone was the sole fatality.

A spokesperson for the singer stated that her family had traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, and would release further details soon. Meanwhile, authorities in Montgomery have yet to provide official information on the accident.

A Legacy of Music and Film

Angie Stone, known for timeless hits like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn’t Miss You, was a powerhouse in the music industry. She earned three Grammy nominations throughout her career and was widely celebrated for her contributions to soul, R&B, and hip-hop.

Her musical journey began in the 1970s as a member of The Sequence, one of the first female hip-hop groups. Their most notable song, Funk You Up, reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, cementing their place in music history.

Beyond music, Stone made a mark in Hollywood, appearing in films such as The Hot Chick (2002) alongside Rob Schneider, Rachel McAdams, and Anna Faris. She also starred in The Fighting Temptations (2003), where she shared the screen with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé.
