By Gideon Ayeni

A local vigilante group in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Saleh Yusuf, and successfully rescued an abducted victim.
SalehYusuf, who had been under surveillance following intelligence reports linking him to recent kidnappings in the area, was apprehended after a coordinated operation.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the suspect admitted to being an ex-convict who had previously served two years in prison for cattle rustling. However, after his release, he allegedly resumed criminal activities.
“My name is Saleh Yusuf. I live in Babanla. I was part of the Aro gang, but I wasn’t aware of this particular operation,” he claimed.
During interrogation, Yusuf confessed to stealing an AK-47 rifle from his gang leader, Aro, and identified his accomplices as Yati, Abacha, and Smally. He disclosed that the group operated with two rifles and that Aro was in possession of about 31 AK-47 firearms. He also mentioned another criminal group, the Ore gang, which he claimed was behind several kidnappings in the area.
Despite pleading for forgiveness and requesting water, Yusuf admitted to his involvement in kidnappings, contradicting his earlier denial of any recent crimes.
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kwara State confirmed the arrest and commended the vigilance group for their efforts.
“Our vigilante group successfully arrested several kidnappers, rescued victims, and recovered AK-47 rifles, hard drugs, and stolen items,” MACBAN’s state chairman, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, stated.
