Senate President Godswill Akpabio is set to take action against Ms Joi Nunieh the lady who claims to be the only woman to have slapped Akpabio over alleged sexual harassment.

Akpabio’s communication strategist, Mr Kenny Okolugbo disclosed this as he defended the Senate’s suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, following her allegation of sexual harassment she levelled against the presiding officer of the Senate.

Speaking on a Channels Television interview on Thursday monitored by GWG.ng, Okolugbo said Akpabio’s action against Joi Nunieh was to ensure that posterity does not leave her claim unchallenged.

Okolugbo who disputed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims said that Akpabio bent over to protect the suspended senator even as he averred that the rules of the Senate were upheld.

Okolugbo who confessed that he was recommended for his present job by Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, Senator Natasha’s husband, said that he spoke from a position as a bridge builder.

The revelation of Akpabio’s move against Ms Joi Nunieh came in the light of a question from the Channels Television interviewer, that the Senate President has a history of sexual harassment.

GWG.ng reports that Ms Nunieh had in a television interview in 2020 claimed that she slapped Akpabio over alleged sexual harassment.

She said:

“Why did he not tell Nigerians that I slapped him in his guest house at Apo? I am the only Ogoni woman, the only Nigerian woman that has slapped him. I slapped him because of his plan B. Since he couldn’t get me to take that money, he thought that he could come up on me.

“He didn’t know that I’m a Port Harcourt girl. Port Harcourt girls are not moved by money…by somebody telling me that he will make me the substantive MD. Akpabio’s meetings with me were either at Apo or Meridien…Yes, I am accusing him of sexual harassment.”

Responding to the issue on Thursday night, Okolugbo said:

“I have spoken to him about it, I wasn’t working with him at that time and he has his very deep regrets and his deep regret is that he didn’t pursue that matter (Joi Nunieh) to a logical conclusion and he intends (now) to pursue it to a logical conclusion.

“One of the mistakes that Donald Trump made was that he didn’t deal with the issue of Stormie Daniels and that is why he is a convict today even though he is president of America.

“So, his (Akpabio’s) deep regret is that he didn’t deal with that issue and that issue will be dealt with. When you say lets forgive, forget and move on, things like this will come back to haunt you. So, he wants to deal with that issue once and for all.”
