Senate President Godswill Akpabio has drawn lessons from the sex allegation cases against President Donald Trump and based on that is set to commence legal actions against Ms Joi Nunieh, the lady who once bragged as being the only woman to have slapped him, Akpabio.

Communications consultant and strategist to the Senate President, Mr Ken Okolugbo in an interview said that Trump’s decision not to decisively deal with the Stormy Daniels sex allegation was what led to the conviction tag on him even as president.

GWG.ng reports that an alleged one-night sexual encounter took place in 2006 between Trump and female blue film star actress. That act was followed by a plot to hide the affair in the period leading up to the 2016 United States presidential election won by Trump.

Trump was eventually convicted of issues emerging from the use of hush money to cover up the scandal.

Arising from that lesson and the conviction stigma on the US president, Senator Akpabio’s strategist, Okolugbo revealed in an interview on Thursday that the Senate President was now set to quash a sex harassment allegation earlier brought against him by Ms Joi Nunieh, the erstwhile acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

He spoke following the Senate resolution to suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan who had twice brought allegations bordering on sexual harassment against Akpabio on the Senate floor.

Speaking on a Channels Television interview on Thursday monitored by GWG.ng, Okolugbo said Akpabio’s action against Joi Nunieh was to ensure that posterity does not leave her claim unchallenged.

Asked to react to the trend of sexual harassment against Akpabio following the two accusations by Nunieh and Akpoti-Uduaghan, the interview on Channels Television on Thursday night, Okolugbo said that the Senate President would now act against Joi Nunieh.

“I have spoken to him about it, I wasn’t working with him at that time and he has his very deep regrets and his deep regret is that he didn’t pursue that matter (Joi Nunieh) to a logical conclusion and he intends (now) to pursue it to a logical conclusion.

“One of the mistakes that Donald Trump made was that he didn’t deal with the issue of Stormie Daniels and that is why he is a convict today even though he is president of America.

“So, his (Akpabio’s) deep regret is that he didn’t deal with that issue and that issue will be dealt with. When you say lets forgive, forget and move on, things like this will come back to haunt you. So, he wants to deal with that issue once and for all.”

GWG.ng reports that Ms Nunieh had in a television interview in 2020 claimed that she slapped Akpabio over alleged sexual harassment.

She said:

“Why did he not tell Nigerians that I slapped him in his guest house at Apo? I am the only Ogoni woman, the only Nigerian woman that has slapped him. I slapped him because of his plan B. Since he couldn’t get me to take that money, he thought that he could come up on me.

“He didn’t know that I’m a Port Harcourt girl. Port Harcourt girls are not moved by money…by somebody telling me he will make me the substantive MD. Akpabio’s meetings with me were either at Apo or Meridien…Yes, I am accusing him of sexual harassment.”

Besides formally denying the allegation at that time when he was minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Akpabio did not do any other thing.

Okolugbo, however, did not say what action the Senate President was likely to take at this time.
