Nigerian telecommunications giant Globacom, popularly known as Glo has launched its embedded SIM (e-SIM) service, enabling customers to connect to its network without using a physical SIM card.

Announcing the rollout on Sunday, the company revealed that customers who activate the Glo e-SIM with a minimum ₦1,500 data plan would receive a complimentary 5GB data bonus.

Unlike traditional SIM cards, the Glo e-SIM is a built-in digital chip in smartphones and wearable devices, allowing users to switch between networks effortlessly. Globacom highlighted its benefits for frequent travelers and professionals who need multiple lines without carrying multiple SIM cards.

Security is another key advantage, as the e-SIM is embedded directly into devices, making it less susceptible to theft or unauthorized access. Additionally, the technology supports environmental sustainability by eliminating plastic waste from SIM card production.

“With this launch, we are reaffirming our commitment to delivering future-ready services,” Globacom stated. “The e-SIM provides high-net-worth individuals and enterprise customers with a seamless digital experience while also making it easier for users on other networks to switch to Glo.”

Both existing and new customers can activate the e-SIM service, offering them greater convenience and flexibility in managing their mobile connectivity.
