What Tinubu Discussed With Fubara, Wike, Others During Monday Night Meeting
By Gideon Ayeni

President Bola Tinubu has called on state governors to intensify efforts in delivering policies that uplift the poor and vulnerable, emphasizing the need for long-term development and national unity.
Speaking during an Iftar dinner at the State House in Abuja on Monday night, Tinubu hosted governors, ministers, and top government officials, including Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The annual Ramadan gathering serves as a platform for discussions on governance and national progress.
Addressing the governors, Tinubu encouraged them to remain committed to the people’s welfare. “Continue doing what you are doing, and do more for the people,” he urged, stressing that leadership should focus on easing the burden on citizens rather than imposing hardships.
Reflecting on the challenges of governance, the President likened it to “fetching water from a dry well” but assured that his administration was working to ensure resources were used effectively for development. “We are still working hard to ensure that there is water to drink and that we spend money, not the people,” he stated.
Tinubu also urged the governors to see themselves as “navigators” guiding Nigeria toward prosperity. Beyond economic policies, he emphasized the need for unity across ethnic and religious lines, urging leaders to strengthen national cohesion.
“Despite our differences, Nigeria remains one big family. It is our responsibility as leaders to foster peace and development,” the President added.
