Fear Grows For LAWMA Worker After Exposing Alleged Salary Fraud
By Gideon Ayeni

The viral video of a Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) worker calling out her superiors for alleged salary fraud has created mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concerns over possible repercussions.
While some netizens fear the LAWMA worker might lose her job for exposing the alleged salary fraud, others speculate that she may have secured another job, which gave her the boldness to speak out. Some critics, however, argue that speaking up might put her at risk, as her bosses and even colleagues could now see her as a target for retaliation.
In the video, the female worker accused LAWMA of failing to implement Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s ₦85,000 minimum wage approval since August 2024, claiming they still receive only ₦30,000 as salary. She urged Nigerians to help tag relevant authorities to ensure they get justice.

@shegzyloran13: @tokunbo_wahab @jidesanwoolu @followlasg this should be looked into please these workers are doing a great job and I believe that they must be paid well too
@Anwaobi: Next sequence of events:
- Her colleagues would attack her for speaking out
- Some Nigerians would ask why she is speaking out instead of keeping her head down and taking the pay
- She would be witch hunted by her place of work as an example after they deny, deny, deny
@handler: Them say she don see another work the reason she Dey call out her employer
But is she wrong? This country, you can’t just question the higher authorities without them coming for you
@hericfash2029: This one don see another job.
As of the time of this report, neither LAWMA nor any government official has made an official statement on the matter.
