Apostle Femi Lazarus Worship

Apostle Femi Lazarus has sparked intense debate after criticizing modern worship, questioning its focus on performance rather than true devotion to God.

Apostle Femi Lazarus has stirred intense reactions online after delivering a strong rebuke on the state of modern-day worship in the Nigerian church.

In a now-viral sermon, he questioned the shift from true spiritual encounters to entertainment-driven performances, calling for a return to genuine worship.

“Go and watch the video of the 1985 crusade of Bishop Benson Idahosa and Mama Bola Are. You will be shocked at what you see. There were no sophisticated bezis, cubes, or MP strings,” he said, emphasizing the raw power of worship in past generations.

He went further, questioning whether today’s worship is truly about God:
“When was the last time in our most powerful crusade a minister stepped on the altar to raise a sound and the other program had to be stopped because God came? What changed in our generation? We are beginning to erase performance!”

Lazarus also condemned the increasing focus on materialism among ministers:
“How did we get to the point that ministers now fancy people opening car doors for them? That’s the video they want them to capture—‘Capture that part now that I have arrived!’ Are we not servants?”

He also criticized indecent dressing in gospel music:
“There are people giving spoken words, and those who are singing, their breasts are outside, laps are outside!”

His statements have sparked a wave of online reactions. Some supported his message, agreeing that worship has become more about showmanship than spirituality:

– “This man is just speaking facts, it’s funny how we don’t even know that we are going into the wrong path… the end is actually near.” – @Kana_lee_

– “Table that has been shaking since, he finally shattered it.” – @elocefe

– “I love the last statement ‘Ati sonu’… Kai 🙏” – @maverickhillz

– “Apostle Femi Lazarus is a voice of truth. God has made him a source of light and facts.” – @timmycent_i

– “Many of today’s Christian worshippers just want to be seen. And the dressing? It gets worse every day.” – @segunizzy

Others felt he was being too critical:

– “He doesn’t realize that God upgrades too.” – @I_MIsaacMatthew

– “Actor Moses Bliss is on the ‘car door and camera set’ table.” – @Transformerogar

– “Why did you shake that table?” – @sircco_godian

– “Guy, rest abeg.” – @OluwaFBI1

Some linked his comments to recent controversies in the gospel music industry:
“In case you don’t know, Mercy and VDM’s case is what led to this. I said it yesterday and most of you came after me. Come and drag Apostle Femi Lazarus now!” – @SitoEmmy

Despite the mixed reactions, Apostle Femi Lazarus remains firm in his message:
“If we don’t rise to know the true God, our children will have to find Him in museums by checking the stories of those who passed.”
