The auxiliary nurse who administered treatment to late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has narrated the events leading to his tragic passing.

Testifying before Justice C.A. Shotobi at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Friday, the nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, recounted that Mohbad developed goosebumps shortly after receiving an injection. According to her, his wife, Omowunmi, dismissed it as his usual reaction to medication.

Ogedengbe revealed that she was called to treat the singer on September 11, 2023, for a cut injury. The following day, she administered tetanus, paracetamol, and antibiotic injections. However, after receiving the third injection, Mohbad reportedly became nauseous, vomited, and displayed signs of physical distress, including weakness and goosebumps.

How Mohbad’s Condition Deteriorated

Detailing the sequence of events, Ogedengbe stated:

“On September 11, 2023, I was in Cotonou for my admission process when I received a missed call from Spending (a friend of Mohbad). When I returned, I called him back, and he requested that I come over to treat a friend who had a cut. However, I was unable to go that day.”

“The next day, I arrived at the house around 2:30 p.m. DJ Bami led me upstairs, where I met Mohbad. The floor was wet, and DJ Bami mopped it. We then moved Mohbad to another room before I began administering the injections.”

According to her, Mohbad inquired about the injections she was about to give, and she informed him they were tetanus, paracetamol, and antibiotics. She first administered the tetanus and paracetamol injections. At this point, Omowunmi, his wife, mentioned that he had an ulcer.

However, after receiving the third injection, Mohbad started reacting negatively.

“He said he felt like throwing up, so DJ Bami and Omowunmi helped him to the bathroom, where he vomited. After that, he sat on the floor, visibly weak, with goosebumps appearing all over his body,” she said.

When she expressed concern over the reaction, Omowunmi reportedly reassured her that this was how Mohbad usually responded to injections. She then suggested pouring water on his head to calm him down, which she did.

Realizing the severity of the situation, Ogedengbe and DJ Bami rushed to a pharmacy to get an antidote. Unfortunately, the first pharmacy they visited did not have the required medication, so they proceeded to another.

“While at the second pharmacy, we received a call that Mohbad was convulsing. I immediately told them to rush him to the hospital,” she testified.

Mohbad’s death has remained a subject of controversy, with many unanswered questions. The coroner’s inquest aims to unravel the circumstances surrounding his passing and determine whether negligence or foul play was involved.
