NYSC Summons Corps Member Who Called Tinubu A ‘Terrible President’
By Gideon Ayeni

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reportedly summoned Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a corps member serving in Lagos State, following her viral social media post criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration and calling him a terrible president.
According to SaharaReporters, the NYSC Local Government Inspector (LGI) directed Uguamaye, identified by code number LA/24B/832, to appear at the Eti Osa 3 local government office by 10 a.m. on Monday without fail over the post in which she dubbed President Tinubu a terrible president.
Uguamaye had taken to TikTok under the handle @talktoraye, sharing an emotional video where she lamented the rising cost of living and the government’s failure to address economic hardship.
In the video, she openly called out Tinubu, describing him as a “terrible president” while expressing frustration over the constant increase in the price of goods.
“If a lot of Nigerians come out and start speaking about what we are going through, maybe changes will be made in the government,” she stated.
She questioned the affordability of basic items, citing how the price of a crate of eggs had skyrocketed to N6,500, a drastic jump from when it cost just N800.
“I just got back from a supermarket where I went to buy foodstuff, and everything has gone up again. Every single week, prices keep increasing. I want to know, what is the government doing about this?” she asked.
Beyond inflation, she also criticized Lagos’ poor sanitation, complaining about the city’s foul odor and lack of government intervention.
Her video quickly went viral, sparking massive reactions online. However, less than 24 hours after posting it, Uguamaye revealed in another clip that she had been receiving persistent calls from NYSC officials urging her to delete the video and stop criticizing the government.
The NYSC has yet to release an official statement regarding the situation, but the corps member’s ordeal has fueled debates over freedom of speech and the right of citizens to voice their grievances without fear of intimidation.
