Senegalese football star Sadio Mane has become a father for the first time. He and his wife, Aisha Tamba, have welcomed a baby girl.

The couple, who tied the knot in January 2024, had kept their relationship private before making it public after their wedding.

To celebrate the special occasion, Mane dedicated his goal in Al-Nassr’s 3-1 win over Al-Kholood to his newborn daughter. After scoring, he cradled his arms in a symbolic gesture, smiling with joy. His goal came after Cristiano Ronaldo had opened the scoring for Al-Nassr.

Mane’s club confirmed the birth of his daughter with a heartfelt announcement. They also shared a video of him reciting a verse from the Quran: “Wealth and children are the adornments of this worldly life, but the everlasting good deeds are far better with your Lord in reward and in hope.” The club captioned the post, “A new blessing for Sadio Mane! Wishing him and his family endless joy… May Allah guide her to righteousness and make her one of His faithful servants.”

The couple’s love story began in Senegal, where they both come from. Their wedding took place in Keur Massar, a district in Dakar, just days before the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). When they met, Tamba was still a student, and Mane had reportedly promised to marry her from the start of their relationship. Their wedding was a private event attended by family, close friends, and fellow footballers. Fourteen months later, they are now celebrating the arrival of their first child.

Mane has always expressed his desire to have a big family. In a previous interview, he said, “Funny question. If it were just my choice, I’d say three or four. But God decides, and I will thank Him no matter what. Whatever the number, I will accept it. I’m leaning towards three or four, but we’ll see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Mane’s goal helped Al-Nassr secure an important win in their pursuit of the Saudi Pro League title. The team is chasing league leaders Al-Ittihad, who are 10 points ahead. With nine games left in the season, Al-Nassr must maintain a perfect run to keep their title hopes alive.
