Terrible Or Best President? Corps Member, Seyi Tinubu Choke Nigeria
By Benjamin Abioye

In the past few days, two different voices have emerged, both talking about the same person—President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. One voice was from his son, Seyi Tinubu, and the other from a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye. Their words paint two different pictures of Nigeria’s leader, leaving the average Nigerian wondering: Who is telling the real story?
Seyi Tinubu, the son of the president, spoke highly of his father, calling him the greatest leader Nigeria has ever had. According to him, President Tinubu has built an economy that benefits everyone and is committed to uplifting the youth. His words, spoken with confidence, reflect deep admiration for his father.
Seyi, being the president’s son, has lived close to power. He has seen the decisions made behind closed doors. He believes in his father’s vision, and he speaks from a place of loyalty and trust.
On the other hand, Ushie Rita, a young Nigerian serving her country through the NYSC program, expressed a different view. She made a video calling Tinubu’s administration “terrible” and questioning the current state of the economy. She did not speak with admiration; she spoke out of frustration. She represents millions of Nigerians who feel the weight of rising prices, economic hardship, and uncertainty about the future.
Her boldness came at a price. She was reportedly summoned by NYSC officials, possibly facing consequences for simply expressing how she feels.
One voice belongs to the son of a leader, raised in privilege, seeing the country from the top. The other belongs to an ordinary Nigerian, experiencing the struggles firsthand.
Seyi speaks of success, Rita speaks of suffering. Both of them are Nigerians, both of them are speaking their truth. But whose truth reflects the reality of the common Nigerian?
Are things truly getting better, or are they getting harder? Should Nigerians listen to the words of the privileged or the cries of the struggling?
The answer to that question is not for any single person to decide. It is for Nigerians to observe, reflect, and conclude for themselves.
