NYSC Member Tinubu Criticism

Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye who rebuked President Tinubu as being terrible, has publicly apologized to Lagosians and those offended by her viral video describing Lagos as having a foul smell.

Raye’s comments, which had gone viral on various Nigeria news platforms, led to a disciplinary summons from Lagos State officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) miffed by her assertion of President Bola Tinubu being terrible.

However, in a post shared on her Instagram page, Raye clarified her stance and expressed remorse for how her words were perceived by those living in Lagos.

“I want to first of all state that I AM SORRY to the people who were born and raised in Lagos if you feel offended by what I said,” she wrote.

“As a visitor here, I could tell there was a difference in the atmosphere and quality of air. If the way I put it triggered emotions and your love for your birth state, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to talk down on Lagos,” Raye added of her comment that was overshadowed by the terrible president clause.

She explained that her remarks were part of a “30-day rant challenge,” aimed at expressing frustrations about the economic situation in Nigeria. According to her, she had hoped to gain traction by Day 20, but her video went viral on the first day.

Addressing the rising cost of living, she said, “I work 45+ hours a week and should be able to afford hanging out with my friends every weekend. However, I can’t. But how many of us can actually afford that?”

Raye urged those living in Lagos and Nigerians generally to remain focused on demanding better living conditions instead of getting distracted by social media controversies traced by the terrible president claim. “If we stay committed to asking for better, we will get better,” she concluded.
