Rivers Crisis: PAP Administrator Warns Ex-Agitators Against Violence In Rivers
By Benjamin Abioye

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Administrator has called on ex-agitators to maintain peace and act responsibly in light of the recent constitutional developments in Rivers State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Otuaro urged all former agitators and beneficiaries of the amnesty programme to resist any attempts by individuals or groups, regardless of their influence, to involve them in the ongoing political situation.
“I am appealing against engaging in violent activities or making yourselves available for acts capable of throwing the Niger Delta into chaos,” Otuaro stated.
He emphasized the role of ex-agitators as key stakeholders and ambassadors of peace, urging them to prioritize the stability and security of the Niger Delta for the well-being of its people and their livelihoods.
“The PAP Office further wants all ex-agitators to beware that some merchants of violence will like to make political gains out of tensions in Rivers State and use them as cannon fodder to disrupt the peace for their selfish desires. You are urged to shun such temptations,” he cautioned.
Acknowledging the hardships the Niger Delta has endured over the years, Otuaro stressed the importance of preventing further destabilization in the region. “The Niger Delta has suffered enough on many fronts over the years, and all ex-agitators should realize this fact and ensure that the region is not plunged into further destabilization due to the developments in Rivers,” he noted.
He further advised ex-agitators, amnesty beneficiaries, and Niger Delta residents to refrain from vandalizing oil and gas infrastructure or any other government assets in the region. “Importantly, I am asking ex-agitators, beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, and the good people of the Niger Delta not to engage in the destruction of oil and gas and other government assets in the region,” he stated.
His appeal comes amid growing tensions in Rivers State, with concerns that unrest could negatively impact the stability of the Niger Delta.
