Twin Brothers Found Dead On Remote Mountain

Twin brothers from Georgia were found dead on a remote mountain, far from where they were supposed to be. Qaadir and Naazir Lewis, both 19, from Lawrenceville near Atlanta, were discovered last weekend at the top of Bell Mountain, a secluded peak in Towns County near the North Carolina border.

The bodies were found by a hiker, and both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Their family is devastated and confused because the brothers were supposed to be traveling to Boston to visit friends. Instead, they were found dead in the mountains, about 90 miles from home.

“They’re very protective of each other. They love each other,” their uncle Rahim Brawner told 11Alive. “They were inseparable. I couldn’t imagine them hurting each other because I’ve never seen them get into a fistfight before.”

The twins had booked a flight to Boston for the morning of March 7 and were excited about their trip. However, they never made it onto the plane. Just a day later, their bodies were discovered in a place they had never visited before. Their plane tickets were still inside their wallets.

Their aunt, Samira Brawner, expressed her confusion. “How did they end up out in the mountains? They don’t hike out there; they’ve never been out there.”

Another family member also questioned their location. “They don’t know anything about Hiawassee, Georgia. They never even heard of Bell Mountain. So how did they end up right there?”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has shared early findings suggesting a possible murder-suicide. However, the family strongly disagrees with this conclusion.

“We knew right away that wasn’t true,” Samira said. “We want answers, we want to know exactly what happened to the twins.”

Another aunt, Yasmine Brawner, also rejected the idea. “They had a huge support system. We know them. They wouldn’t do anything like this. To say they did this to each other? No. Something happened in those mountains, and we want answers.”

The family insists that the idea of one brother killing the other and then taking his own life does not match their personalities or close relationship.

“They came from a family of love, and twins wanted so much for their future – they had dreams of starting their very own clothing line,” Yasmine wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs.

Adding to the mystery, Bell Mountain is a known tourist destination, but the family says the twins had never talked about it or visited before.

The grieving family is now asking anyone who might have seen the twins before their deaths to come forward with information.

“Somebody knows something,” Samira Brawner said. “They didn’t just walk up that mountain and die. Something happened to them.”
