Cubana Chief Priest Rivers Crisis

Cubana Chief Priest has sparked reactions with his comment on the Rivers crisis, urging Governor Fubara to honor his agreement with his political adversaries prior to his suspension.

Popular Nigerian socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, has stirred controversy with his remarks concerning the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

His comment, made in a viral video, has attracted mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media.

In the video, Cubana Chief Priest was seen playfully stating, “Agreement is agreement, Fubara,” while pointing his hand as if urging the suspended governor to honor certain commitments.

His remark has been widely interpreted as a reference to the political turmoil that led to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s suspension.

This statement has triggered a wave of reactions, with many Nigerians expressing diverse opinions on the matter. Some believe Cubana Chief Priest is siding with political interests, while others argue that his comment highlights the importance of keeping promises.

One social media user, @Bruno_LFC_, suggested that figures like Cubana Chief Priest could be aligned with political interests, saying, “I once told my guys that these Cubana gang may likely be an extension and tools for political deals.” Another, @DrChimere, criticized his involvement, asking, “Do they want Nigeria to be Mexico? We have laws, not bilateral agreements.”

Others have focused on the implications of political agreements. @of_echoes28961 wrote, “Entering an agreement you can’t keep is a total betrayal. More reason he will lose this fight.” Meanwhile, @AaJessehalliday argued that governance should be about serving the people, not personal deals, stating, “In a democracy, there is nothing like ‘Agreement is Agreement.’ Governor Fubara does not owe anyone except the people of Rivers State good governance.”

However, some users believe there is a valid argument for honoring agreements. @donperazim36909 remarked, “The way people are acting like there was no agreement at all baffles me.” Similarly, @kinghustle001 pointed out, “This tells you that most people would rather share state resources among themselves than use them for the people.”

The political crisis in Rivers State escalated after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all elected members of the State House of Assembly for six months. The decision came amid rising tensions and allegations of power struggles within the state government. To restore order, the President appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the interim administrator.

The crisis has been linked to a longstanding political battle between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Many believe the turmoil stems from agreements made during the transition of power, which have since led to internal conflicts.

As the situation unfolds, Cubana Chief Priest’s remarks have further fueled public discourse on the importance of political agreements, governance, and the role of influential figures in shaping public opinion. Whether his comment was made in jest or with serious intent, it has undoubtedly contributed to the broader conversation on the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.
