Senator Natasha Akpoti has taken her longstanding sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Akpabio to Sky News, igniting fresh debate and reactions nationwide.

The controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio has taken a new turn.

In an interview with Sky News, the Kogi Central senator provided more details about her claims, stating that Akpabio repeatedly made inappropriate advances towards her.

Speaking during the interview, Akpoti said, “Each time I walked to him alone, he tells me, ‘Come here, you know what? Right here, I’m the Chief President Officer of the National Assembly. So you have to please me, make me happy to have these privileges.’ And that happened several times. Because I refused, he developed hatred for me.”

This revelation adds to the allegations she has made over the past few months, in which she accused Akpabio of using his influence to intimidate and sideline her in the Senate.

Her statement has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many Nigerians taking to social media to express their views. Some have praised her courage, while others have demanded concrete evidence or dismissed her claims entirely.

User @south_southBoy remarked, “She’s not backing down anytime soon.” Meanwhile, @Coachbenjamin_ described her as “bold.” Others were more skeptical. @Dannygrant_1 wrote, “Please, if you have some evidence, attach them to your claims so we don’t waste our time on this.”

Some dismissed her claims outright. @EmekaofX stated, “All it takes for women to get famous and rich in the West is just to accuse men of sexual harassment and abuse.” Another user, @WatchTowers001, added, “She paid millions to show up on that news. Let her enjoy the show for now.”

Amid the controversy, some believe the case is far from over. @codo2324 noted, “When you think it’s ending, it’s starting again. This case may not be that easy for Akpabio. The world is watching.”

These allegations are not new. Akpoti had previously accused Akpabio of inappropriate conduct, a claim he strongly denied. The dispute escalated when she brought a petition before the Senate, which was dismissed. Shortly afterward, she was suspended from the Senate for what was officially described as “disciplinary reasons.”

Since then, Akpoti has remained vocal, taking her claims to the courts and now to international media. This latest interview adds a new dimension to the ongoing saga, raising questions about power dynamics in Nigerian politics and the treatment of women in leadership.

As the debate continues, many Nigerians are waiting to see what happens next. Will this latest development prompt a formal investigation, or will it be swept aside like previous political scandals? One thing is certain—this case is not going away anytime soon.
