Akwa Ibom Police Smash Notorious Robbery Syndicate

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbery syndicate in Ibesikpo Abutan local government area of the state.
This effort manifested in the Command’s relentless efforts to nip crime in the bud as operatives also recovered dangerous weapons and stolen items in the process .
As contained in a press statement issued by DSP Timfon John, the Command Police Public Officer(PPRO), a distress call from it’s control room indicated that an armed robbery operation was going on at a hotel in the Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village which led the Command’s operatives to swing into action.
The two suspects arrested are Louis Joseph Thomas, 23 and Essien Friday Nelson who is 27 years old.
The statement read that, “On 20th March 2025, at about 23:30hrs, the Command received a distress call from the Control Room, reporting an ongoing armed robbery operation along Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village.
“Acting swiftly, tactical teams were mobilized to the scene, where the hoodlums were trailed to a Hotel (name withheld).
“Following a well-coordinated operation, two suspects were apprehended.”
The police statement also revealed that a thorough search led to the recovery of the following items which includes four (4) locally made pistols, thirty-four (34) live cartridges, one (1) Moniepoint POS machine and two (2) black face masks.
Other items found at the scene are two (2) laptops, three (3) Android phones, one (1) button phone, one (1) wristwatch as well as a black long-sleeve Special Force polo shirt.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, commended the operatives for their swift response and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons.
He assured that the Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensure the safety of all residents, while he pleaded with the general public to always provide timeous and credible information that will help the Command to curb crimes in the entire state.
CP Azare advised that for any emergency or suspicious activities, the public should endeavour to contact the Police Command promptly.
