Segun Odegbami Reacts As Osimhen Breaks His Super Eagles Goal Record
By Benjamin Abioye

Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for surpassing his long-standing goal record.
Osimhen achieved this milestone during Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi on Friday.
With his two goals in the match, the 26-year-old forward now has a total of 25 goals for the Super Eagles, moving two goals ahead of Odegbami, who previously held the record at 23 goals in 46 appearances for the national team. This accomplishment makes Osimhen Nigeria’s second all-time top scorer, behind the legendary Rashidi Yekini, who still holds the record with 37 goals.
In response to Osimhen’s achievement, Odegbami expressed his admiration and extended his best wishes to both the player and the entire Nigerian squad. He said, “On behalf of the entire Eagles squad of 1980, I congratulate Nigeria for the incredible victory in Kigali and Victor Osimhen for his individual achievement.”
Recognizing Osimhen’s impact as a goal scorer, he further stated, “Supreme goal scorer and centre-forward Victor Osimhen surpassed my record of 23 goals in 46 matches for the country.”
Osimhen, who currently plays for Galatasaray, continues to prove his prowess on the field, edging closer to Rashidi Yekini’s legendary record. With just 12 goals needed to claim the top spot, fans and football analysts believe it is only a matter of time before Osimhen cements himself as Nigeria’s greatest goal scorer of all time.
