The police in Nasarawa State have arrested a robbery suspect after four of his gang members died in an accident while trying to escape in a stolen car.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, shared this information in a statement on Tuesday in Lafia.

He explained that the robbers stole a vehicle at gunpoint near Keffi Township Stadium. However, their escape plan failed when they crashed the vehicle.

“On March 25, 2025, at about 3:00 a.m., the command received a distress call reporting an armed robbery incident at a residential area behind the stadium in Keffi.

“Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro-Mohammed immediately ordered operatives to track and pursue the fleeing suspects.

“The robbers escaped before police arrival, but officers strategically monitored their suspected escape route,” Nansel stated.

While trying to escape, the suspects had a fatal accident at Bola Junction along the Keffi-Abuja Expressway.

After the crash, police officers from Goshen City Division quickly took the five robbers to Johepz Medical Centre, Kuchika, for urgent treatment.

“Unfortunately, four were confirmed dead by a doctor, while the surviving suspect was arrested and is receiving treatment under police watch,” Nansel added.

Investigations showed that the stolen Toyota Camry belonged to a resident named Udochi Emeka, who lives behind the stadium in Keffi.

The police recovered several items from the suspects, including charms, two long knives, screwdrivers, many wristwatches, and twelve different mobile phones.

The police advised the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for quick action.
