The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Africa continued on Tuesday, delivering intense action and surprising results across the continent.

In Group C, Nigeria played against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The Super Eagles took the lead in the 74th minute when Victor Osimhen scored with a well-placed header. However, Zimbabwe responded dramatically in stoppage time, as Tawanda Chirewa netted an equalizer, forcing a 1-1 draw.

Group G saw a tense encounter where Uganda narrowly defeated Guinea 1-0, securing a valuable three points. Meanwhile, Algeria showcased their dominance with an emphatic 5-1 win over Mozambique, delivering one of the biggest victories of the day.

Other key results from the qualifiers include:

– Burundi crushed Seychelles with a commanding 5-0 win.

– Botswana claimed a solid 2-0 victory against Somalia.

– Egypt kept their qualification hopes alive with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sierra Leone.

– Sudan and South Sudan played out a tense 1-1 draw.

– Comoros secured a 1-0 win against Chad.

– DR Congo defeated Mauritania 2-0.

– Senegal sealed a 2-0 victory over Togo.

– Morocco rounded off the matchday with a convincing 2-0 win against Tanzania.

With these results, teams are now looking ahead to the next round of fixtures. Matchday 7 of the African World Cup qualifiers is scheduled to take place in September, where the battle for qualification will continue.
