The Kano State Police Command has officially banned all Sallah Durbar celebrations ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities, citing security threats and potential unrest.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori announced the decision at the Bompai Police Headquarter.

He explained that intelligence reports indicated possible disruptions from certain groups. After consultations with the Kano State Government and key stakeholders, authorities opted to prohibit the traditional festivities to ensure public safety.

To maintain order during the celebrations, the police issued strict security guidelines, urging worshippers to:

Conduct Eid prayers only at designated praying grounds.

Avoid carrying suspicious or unnecessary objects.

Refrain from horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, or reckless driving.

Prevent children from engaging in disruptive activities.

Avoid actions that could incite unrest.

CP Bakori assured Kano residents that security personnel would be strategically deployed across the state to guarantee a peaceful Sallah celebration. He encouraged the public to report suspicious activities through emergency hotlines (08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926) or via the NPF Rescue Me app.

“As we celebrate, let us prioritize peace, set aside our differences, and unite as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” Bakori stated.

The Kano Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, calling for public cooperation to ensure a safe and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
