Remi Tinubu: Sowore Mobilises Support For Nursing Student
By Benjamin Abioye

Sowore has criticized the attempt to punish a nursing student over a TikTok song about Remi Tinubu, vowing full legal support to protect the student’s rights.
Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has strongly criticized Delta State College of Nursing, Agbor, for attempting to penalize a student nurse over a TikTok post about First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
The controversy started when the school’s Provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, issued a letter on March 27, warning the student, Osato Edobor, that her TikTok post featuring a song against the First Lady was considered a violation of school rules.
The letter referred to the Student Handbook, stating: “This is a punishable offence as enshrined in the Student Handbook under standardized disciplinary action for some punishable offences No 8, Page 21.”
Edobor was instructed to submit a written explanation in three copies within 24 hours, justifying why she should not face disciplinary action. The letter further read: “You are therefore requested to explain in writing in triplicate copies within 24 hours of receipt of this letter why disciplinary action should not be taken against you for this act.”
Reacting to the situation on his 𝕏 handle on Friday, Sowore described the school’s action as unfair and promised to stand by Edobor.
He argued that instead of punishment, the students who sang the viral “Na Your Mama Be This” song should be appreciated for expressing their views. He further stated: “The audacious nursing school students who suitably rejected Bola Tinubu’s wife, Senator Remi Tinubu, in that ‘Na Your Mama Be This’ song ought to be celebrated, but as is characteristic of this Tinubu repressive era, one of them is being targeted for sharing this charming rendition on her TikTok page.”
Sowore assured Edobor that she would receive full legal support to prevent the school from carrying out what he termed an injustice. He emphasized solidarity, saying: “We will be providing backing to this lady with all our physical and legal might to ensure the authorities at Delta State College of Nursing Sciences do not perpetrate this egregious act of injustice, as an injury to one is an injury to all.”
